The BITSAT exam means Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test. It's an online entrance exam conducted by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani.

The university holds this examination yearly to offer students admission into any of its three campuses in Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa. Admissions are offered for BE, BPharm, B.Tech courses and M.Sc programmes.

What Is the BITSAT Exam? - All About The BITSAT Exam 

It's primarily an admissions test meant for students wishing to pursue an undergraduate degree in engineering - so BE or a B.Tech Degree, for example. The final date to submit the application forms for this exam is April 9th. The sessions are available online, and registered candidates can access the admit card to take their online exams.

BITSAT Exam Information - The BITSAT Application Process

The application process for the BITSAT exam will involve a few different processes. You will encounter these processes when applying for the BITSAT exam online: 

  • Registration: This is the first step in the BITSAT application process. Candidates will have to register at the official site by creating an account. For this, you'll need to provide a valid email ID and a valid mobile number. 

The email id and the mobile Number will be the primary ways you'll receive updates from BITS Pilani for any exam-related communications. 

  • Filling Out The Form: After registering on the site, you'll need to log in to your account and fill out the application form. In addition, you'll be required to enter your bio-data, communication and academic details on the online form. 

After this, you'll need to select one of the three available exam centres in the order of your preference.  

  • Uploading Your Documents: The next step would be to verify all the information you've entered by uploading scanned copies of your official signature and photographs onto the site. 
  • Payment Of Application Fee: Once you've filled out the form and uploaded the necessary documents, you'll be directed to pay the application fee online. This can be done through either net banking, credit, debit cards or UPI. 
  • Submitting BITSAT Application Form: Once you've paid the application fees, all that's left to do is submit your online application form. Double-check all the details you've entered one last time before submitting your form. 

BITSAT Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply For The BITSAT Exam?

One thing to keep in mind here is that admissions will be made purely on a merit basis, and the merit rank of the student will be based on their entrance exam scores. Eligible candidates must fulfil these criteria:  

  • Students who have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics during 11th and 12th standards are eligible to appear. They should have an aggregate score of 75%, with at least 60% in each subject. You must have these minimum marks to qualify for the exam.
  • Candidates who've passed their 12th standard exams no later than one year prior are eligible to apply. For example, if you passed your 12th standard in 2020, you can apply for the BITSAT exam in 2023. Students who graduated during the year 2019 are not eligible to appear. 
  • For candidates who've taken more than one attempt at their boards, only their last/most recent scores will be considered. 

BITSAT Exam Syllabus 

The questions candidates will face in the exam will be based on concepts from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Logical reasoning and English proficiency, etc. Here is a more detailed look into what you can expect from each of these subjects/categories:

  • Physics: You can expect questions from units & measurement, Heat & thermodynamics, rotational motion, rotational motion, the mechanics of solids, etc.
  • Chemistry: Questions under atomic structure, states of matter, physical & chemical equilibrium, s & p-block elements, principles of organic chemistry, hydrocarbons, etc.
  • Mathematics: Algebra, trigonometry, three-dimensional geometry, differential calculus, linear programming 
  • Logical Reasoning: 
    • Verbal Reasoning: Classification, Analogy, a reading passage, and many others. 
    • Non-Verbal Reasoning: Figure Matrix, Paper cutting and rule detection.
  • English Proficiency: Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Analogy, and Composition.

Marking Scheme: 3 Marks For 1 Correct Answer And -1 Mark For 1 Incorrect Answer.

The questions and the language/medium the exam will be in will all be in English. The candidates have 3 hours or 180 minutes to complete the exam. There will be negative markings for incorrect answers.
