Types of MBA Programs

  • MBA Full Time (2 Years)

This is a general MBA course that most students opt for, and it is probably the most popular among all types of MBA programs. It lasts an average of two years and is best suited for freshers with no prior work experience.

To pursue an MBA program, you must take an entrance exam like CAT, GMAT, etc. In addition to these, you can also take exams at national, state and institutional levels. The only requirement is to complete your undergraduate program or are in your final year.

To apply for international institutions, candidates must have at least three to five years of work experience, depending on the college. However, this isn't mandatory in most Indian colleges.

  • MBA Full Time (1 Year)

Like the two-year MBA, this is also a full-time master's program,  but it's offered at a much faster pace. A vital feature of this program is that it builds upon the candidate's prior work experience through key management concepts and disciplines.

This program is best suited for candidates with 2 to 10 years of experience, with its average fee being slightly higher when compared to a 2-year MBA program. Freshers are generally discouraged from applying to this program.

  • MBA Part-Time

A part-time MBA is a three-year program that offers the same types of courses as a two-year MBA program. The only key difference here is that classes are usually held during weekends and after business hours, as most candidates that take this course are working professionals.

  • MBA By Distance Education

This correspondence course offers the same classes and courses as a two-year MBA. As a result, it's well suited for working professionals. In addition, it is much less costly than a regular MBA course while still offering the same benefits.

  • PGDM (MBA Equivalent)

This is not an MBA degree. It's a diploma equivalent to an MBA offered at most Indian universities. People often confuse a PGDM degree with an MBA. However, they are not the same.
